Todd Hamilton moves up to world No.16
Todd Hamilton won the 133rd Open Championship at Royal Troon after playoff with Ernie Els which followed a thrilling afternoon featuring many of the highest World Ranked players.
Hamilton is the new World number 16, a rise of 40 places, while Els is now within one point of Tiger Woods and the World Number One spot.
Phil Mickelson strengthened his position as World Number 4 with his third place finish and Lee Westwood breaks back into the World Top 50 thanks to a birdie finish which secured solo fourth place .
Jonathan Byrd won the B.C. Open, his second PGA Tour title, after holding off the challenge of a large group of players including Ted Purdy, whose birdie putt to force a playoff slid agonisingly past the hole as darkness fell. Byrd moves up the World Ranking by 24 places to number 79.
This week's other winners were D A Points at the Pete Dye West Virginia Classic on the Nationwide Tour, Sam Little at the Texbond Open on the European Challenge Tour and Stephen Woodward at the Telus Edmonton Open on the Canadian Tour.
