Jimenez & Levet invited to Match Play event
Ryder Cup team mates Miguel Angel Jimenez and Thomas Levet have been given a shot at golf's richest prize in next month's World Match Play Championship.
Jimenez of Spain and France's Levet, who shared in Europe's 18 1/2-9 1/2 thrashing of the U.S. at Oakland Hills earlier this month, are in the 16-strong field thanks to their European Tour performances.
Scotland's Scott Drummond, the Volvo PGA champion, and Argentina's Angel Cabrera are also in the Wentworth lineup where the first prize is one million pounds ($1.81 million).
U.S. PGA champion and world number one Vijay Singh and holder Ernie Els have also already qualified for the event along with KJ Choi, Todd Hamilton, Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood, Jeff Maggert and Mike Weir.
"I am so happy to secure my place," Levet told the European Tour website on Tuesday.
"Last week's Ryder Cup reall reminded me how much I enjoy match play. It is going to be tough with Ernie and Vijay in the field but I am looking forward to a great week."
