Review of World Rankings to be undertaken

The first Board Meeting of the newly-formed company was recently held at the TPC, Sawgrass, Fl, USA.

The seven Member Organisations, all of whom attended, are:-

  • Augusta National Golf Club
  • International Federation of PGA Tours
  • PGA of America
  • PGA European Tour
  • PGA Tour
  • The R & A
  • United States Golf Association

The meeting was chaired by an independent non-voting Chairman, Sir Michael Bonallack, appointed by the Board.

The Board confirmed that one of its priorities was to maintain the total independence and impartiality of the Ranking System and to ensure that it is continually reviewed. To achieve this, a Technical Committee has been appointed, which will also include representatives from the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Japan Golf Tour, the Sunshine Tour and the Asian Tour, in addition to representatives from the seven member organisations. The Technical Committee will, when it considers necessary, make recommendations to the Board for modifications to be made.

With this in mind, it was agreed that an external and independent audit of the System should be commissioned and its findings made to the Board. This process has now commenced.

The new company operates from its offices in Virginia Water, Surrey, UK and is administered by staff appointed by the Board.
