Joey Sindelar moves into World Top 100
Joey Sindelar completed his first victory since the 1990 Hardee's Golf Classic as he beat Arron Oberholser on the second playoff hole to capture the title at the Wachovia Championship. Sindelar climbs 148 places to World Number 74 and Oberholser moves up from World Number 158 to World Number 80. Tiger Woods finished one shot out of the playoff in tied third and extends his lead over Vijay Singh at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings to 2.58 points.
On the European Tour the Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters was won by Barry Lane who was playing in his 499th European Tour tournament. Lane closed with a final round of 66 to take a three stroke victory over Argentinians Eduardo Romero and Angel Cabrera. Lane is now World Number 133, a jump of 76 places, whist Romero and Cabrera now occupy 60th and 76th spots respectively
Australian Paul Sheehan won the Fujisankei Classic on the Japan Golf Tour and moves up to World Number 103 whilst American Jason Knutzon won the Macau Open on the Asian Tour and moves up to World Number 332.
The week's other winners in Official World Golf Ranking events were Justin Bolli at the Chattanooga Classic on the Nationwide Tour, Leif Westerberg at the Tessali-Metaponto Open di Puglia e Basilicata on the European Challenge Tour and Rob Johnson at the Michelin Guadalajara Classic on the Canadian Tour
