Vijay Singh extends lead as World No.1

Vijay Singh defeated local favourite Mike Weir at the third extra hole of the Bell Canadian Open to complete his fourth win in five tournaments and his seventh in all on the PGA Tour this year. Singh extends his lead over Tiger Woods to 0.97 points at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking.

Padraig Harrington recovered from a bogey bogey start to his final round to claim the Linde German Masters at Gut Lärchenhof from Australian Nick O’Hern. Harrington maintains his position as World Number 8 whilst O’Hern climbs to World Number 53 a leap of 17 places.

On the Japan Golf Tour Hideki Kase won the Suntory Open from three players who tied for second place, Katsuya Nakagawa, Toru Taniguchi and Tomohiro Kondo. Kase is now World Number 193.

This week’s other winners were James Driscoll at the Virginia Beach Open on the Nationwide Tour, Lee Slattery at the Telia Grand Prix on the European Challenge Tour and Edward Loar at the Kolon Korean Open on the Asian Tour.
