Cory Pavin to play in Vietnam Masters
Former U.S. Open champion Corey Pavin will be on hand next month to contest Vietnam's first master's golf tournament, the Asian Tour said Wednesday.
Pavin, 44, will tee off Nov. 4 in the inaugural Vietnam Masters at Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of the capital Hanoi.
Pavin has three Asian titles among his 26 tournament wins, with victories in Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
His last appearance in Asia was in the Korea Open last year, where he finished third.
"It will be a fantastic treat for golf fans in Hanoi as Corey is a great champion and a fantastic competitor," Henrik J. Andersen, general director of sponsor South East Asia Brewery, said in a statement.
The Vietnam Masters will mark the 19th leg of the Asian Tour, and it carries a US$200,000 (euro 162,443) purse.
