Tiger pulls out of European TPC event
World number one Tiger Woods has pulled out of the Tour Players' Championship of Europe (TPC) in May, organisers said on Tuesday. Woods cited private reasons for his decision not to come to the lucrative German tournament, taking place from May 20 to 23 at St Leon-Rot, near Heidelberg.
The American, who has entered the event the last five years and won it three times, is expected to marry his Swedish partner Elin Nordegren later this year.
Despite the absence of Woods, the organisers promise a strong field for the event which offers 3 milllion euros ($3.82 million) in prize money.
World number three Ernie Els of South Africa, Zimbabwean Nick Price and last year's winner Padraig Harrington of Ireland have entered.
