Stuart Appleby moves up to World No. 11
Stuart Appleby came from four shots behind to successfully defend his title at the Mercedes Championship at Kapalua in Hawaii.
After an opening round of 74, which put him ahead of just one player in this 31 man field, Appleby played his next three rounds in 22 under par for a single stroke victory over Jonathan Kaye and a jump of three places in the Official World Golf Ranking to number 11.
Ernie Els had a chance to tie Appleby with a birdie on the 18 th but a wayward drive cost him a bogey 6. Els, World Number 3, finished in tied third place with World Number 2 Tiger Woods, who shot 4 rounds in the sixties.
Overnight leader and World Number One Vijay Singh slipped to a final round of 74 and finished in a tie for 5 th place.
