Michael Campbell moves up to World No.23

Michael Campbell won the US Open at Pinehurst Number 2, a one-under-par final round of 69 giving him a two-stroke victory over World Number One Tiger Woods.

Campbell, who came through Sectional Qualifying at Walton Heath, Surrey, England two weeks earlier, climbs into the World Top 25 as an improvement of 57 places takes him to World Number 23.

Joakim Backstrom won the Aa St Omer Open, a dual ranking event on the European Tour and Challenge Tour, after a play-off with Paul Dwyer. Backstrom jumps nearly 500 places in the Official World Golf Ranking from 810th to 314th.

Satoru Hirota won the Mandom Lucido Yomiuri Open on the Japan Golf Tour and moves up to World Number 296.

On the Nationwide Tour Kim Felton won the Knoxville Open and climbs to World Number 343 while on the Canadian Tour Craig Taylor won the Times Colonist Open and now occupies 425th position in the Official World Golf Ranking.
