Telia Tour to be feeder tour for LET
The Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour has signed an agreement with the Telia Tour and the Swedish Golf Tour AB, making the Telia Tour the Official Feeder Tour to the LET.
As part of the new arrangement the top two qualifiers from the 2005 Telia Tour ranking will automatically receive full playing privileges on the LET.
This is provided that they do not already hold a higher LET exempt status than category seven, are within the top five positions on the Final Telia Ranking 2005 and each become an LET Member in 2006.
The other Telia Tour players finishing inside the top ten of the 2005 ranking will go straight to the final stage of LET qualifying school, thereby skipping the first qualifying section.
"This is the best thing that has ever happened for our women's golf tour," said Claes Grönberg, CEO for the Swedish Golf Tour AB.
"Previously there were no agreements between the tours but now with this fabulous development our Telia-Tour players can advance to the LET.
"If you look at the results for 2004, both Emelie and Hanna Sofia Svennigsson would have directly qualified with full playing rights on the LET, had the new agreement already been in position."
With this new agreement, it is hoped that the Telia Tour will inspire and motivate other countries to develop national tours in the future.
In return, members of the LET who are not members of the Swedish Golf Tour (SGT) will be given opportunities to compete on the Telia Tour.
The first qualifying tournament on the Telia Tour will be the Gullberg Ladies Open at Ängelholms Golfklubb, from 9-11 of June.
