Draw made for World Match Play Championship
Top-seeded Retief Goosen will face Kenneth Ferrie in the first round of the World Match Play Championship.
Goosen, who won his last two events at the China and German Masters, will play Ferrie over 36 holes. The 16-man tournament at Wentworth starts Thursday.
The World Match Play has the richest prize for an official golf tournament -- $1.78 million -- but has failed to attract the top players. Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson will not be playing and Ernie Els, the defending and six-time champion, is recovering from knee surgery.
``It's going to be a tough one to sit out,'' Els said on his Web site. ``This is one of my favorite tournaments of the year and one I really look forward to competing in.''
The draw also features second-seeded Angel Cabrera vs. Trevor Immelman, third-seeded Luke Donald vs. Bernhard Langer, fourth-seeded Michael Campbell vs. Geoff Ogilvy, fifth-seeded Tim Clark vs. Steve Elkington, sixth-seeded Thomas Bjorn vs. Paul McGinley, seventh-seeded David Howell vs. Jose-Maria Olazabal and eighth-seeded Colin Montgomerie vs. Mark Hensby.
