MCI Heritage increase purse by $400,000
The purse for this year's MCI Heritage will grow by $400,000 to a record $5.2 million, tournament officials said Tuesday.
Total money for the PGA Tour event has gone up every year since 1992, when it offered a payout of $1 million.
Tournament director Steve Wilmot says this year's winner will get a check for $936,000. That's an increase from the $864,000 last year's winner, Stewart Cink, received.
"We felt strongly that the purse needed to be increased again this year," Wilmot said. "It should guarantee us another strong field of the world's top professionals."
The tournament takes place April 11-17 at Harbour Town Golf Links.
