Kenny Perry returns to top 10, Singh to No.1

Kenny Perry equalled his own tournament record set two years earlier of 19-under-par 261 to win the Bank of America Colonial by a comfortable seven strokes from Billy Mayfair. Perry returns to the World Top 10 with a rise from 15th to 9th while Mayfair improves his World Ranking by 63 places to 86th.

Vijay Singh begins his third period and thirtieth week as World Number One this week and his lead over Tiger Woods in second place is 0.22 average points.

Stephen Dodd of Wales won his second tournament of the 2005 European Tour International Schedule with a birdie on the first playoff hole against David Howell, appearing in his second consecutive playoff. Dodd climbs 47 places in the Official World Golf Ranking to 56th and with a good performance at this week’s BMW Championship could qualify for the US Open if he can break into the World Top 50. Howell jumps 7 places to World Number 30 and is now the second highest ranked player from England.

Hiroyuki Fujita won the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup on the Japan Golf Tour. The win takes him to World Number 126 and improvement of 53 places.

On the Asian Tour Adam Le Vesconte won the Philippine Open at Mt Malarayat Golf & Country Club, Manila and moves up to World Number 556.

Chad Collins won the Henrico County Open presented by Saxon Capital Inc. on the Nationwide Tour as is now the World Ranked Number 509 player.

The Official World Golf Ranking next week, Week 22 – May 29th, will be the 1000th to have been issued. This milestone is covered in a separate Press Release issued along with this weekly bulletin.
