2006 PGA Tour schedule released
The U.S. PGA Tour announced a 48-tournament schedule for the 2006 season on Wednesday, offering a total prize fund in excess of $255 million.
The Tour will once again begin in Kapalua, Hawaii from January 5-8 with the elite winners only Mercedes Championship and conclude in November with the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
The Mercedes will be followed by the season's first full-field event the Sony Open in Honolulu.
The World Golf Championship events will open with the Accenture Match Play Championships in Carlsbad, California in February followed by the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Akron Ohio in August.
The third stop of the lucrative series will be staged in Europe with The Grove playing host to WGC-American Express Championship, in Hertfordshire, England in late September.
The WGC World Cup will be held in December at a venue to be named later.
