Samsung annouce sponsorship of Asian event
The Robe d i Kappa Ladies European Tour is delighted to announce the addition of renowned consumer electronics brand Samsung as title sponsor of next week's Singapore Ladies Masters.
The event will be titled the Samsung Ladies Masters 2005 and will take place from February 3-5 at Laguna National G&CC in Singapore, the same venue as the men's European Tour are playing at this week.
Heading a strong field will be England's Laura Davies, the current European number one and winner of 66 titles around the globe. The field also includes five winners from the 2004 season including compatriot Trish Johnson, Swedes Cecilia Ekelundh and Maria Hjorth, Elisabeth Esterl from Germany and Ryder Cup Wales rookie of the Year Minea Blomqvist from Finland.
Karen Lunn, Chairman of the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour was delighted with the announcement:
"I welcome the news that Samsung is continuing their support of women's golf and this provides further evidence that our sport is attracting major blue-chip organisations that are using the LET as a vehicle in which to promote their products.
"Samsung has a long and distinguished history of supporting women's golf and I hope that this will continue. I would like to thank both J-Golf and P arallel Media Group for promoting this event on behalf of the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour and this is testament to the further development of women's golf in both Europe and Asia."
In a welcome move that sees the company expand its existing investment in the professional game, Samsung joins a host of other highly respected global Asian brands in support of the tournament. Samsung has a high pedigree in supporting ladies professional golf. Since 1995, Samsung has been the official Title Sponsor of the Samsung World Championship.
Regional CEO and President of Samsung Asia, Mr. Sang-Jin Park , said:

The Samsung Ladies Masters 2005 , to be held under the auspices of the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour (LET ), The Korean Ladies Pro fessional Golfers Association (KLPGA), The Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT ) and the Singapore Ladies Golf Association, is to offer prize money of US$200,000, with points counting towards the Solheim Cup and official LET and KLPGA Orders of Merit.
