Adam Scott moves up to World No.6
World Number Two Vijay Singh enjoyed a bogey free final round and then triumphed at the first extra hole over John Daly in the Shell Houston Open at Redstone Golf Club. Daly had birdied 3 of the last 4 holes in regulation but found water with his tee shot on the first play-off hole and Singh won it with a par 4. Singh remains World Number 2 but has closed the gap on Tiger Woods at the top to less than one average point. Daly climbs 19 places to 34th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Adam Scott has climbed to World Number 6, a rise of 4 places, with his win at the Johnnie Walker Classic played at Pine Valley Golf Resort & Country Club in Beijing. World Number 5 Retief Goosen finished in second place alone, 3 strokes behind Scott, and moves closer to World Number 4 Phil Mickelson.
48 year-old Japan Golf Tour veteran Naomichi Joe Ozaki won the Tsuruya Open and moves back into the World Top 200 in 190th position, an improvement of 101 places.
The week’s other winners were Troy Matteson at the Virginia Beach Open on the Nationwide Tour and Canadian Stuart Anderson at the Foster Farms California Classic on the Canadian Tour.
