Annika Sorenstam commits to World Cup

World number one Annika Sorenstam has confirmed her participation at the 2006 Women's World Cup of Golf, organisers announced on Monday.

The event will take place at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City in South Africa from January 20-22 next year.

"This is an amazing coup for us," said Women's World Cup chief executive Tania Fourie. The tournament features 20 teams over three days of competition.

Sweden's Sorenstam claimed a record fifth victory in the Women's World Championship at the weekend.
