2020 Ryder Cup goes to Whistling Straits
Whistling Straits, the links-styled course along the shores of Lake Michigan that hosted the PGA Championship last year will get golf's fourth major in 2010 and 2015, along with the Ryder Cup in 2020.
``The golf world spotlight will continue to shine in Wisconsin for years to come,'' PGA of America president Roger Warren said Monday.
The 2010 PGA Championship was scheduled for Sahalee Country Club outside Seattle, but PGA officials said last week they would reschedule it because the Winter Olympics are being held that year in the Vancouver, British Columbia, area.
Whistling Straits was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1998.
The PGA Championship attracted some 320,000 fans who saw Vijay Singh win a three-way playoff over Justin Leonard and Chris DiMarco in August.
