Charl Schwartzel of South Africa shot his third straight 68 Saturday to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
His 12-under total of 204 left two shots ahead of European Ryder Cup player Lee Westwood (67) and Welshman Mark Pilkington (65) at the European tour event. Defending champion Ernie Els shot a 3-under 69, his best round this week.
"Same problems, different score," said Els, the three-time champion from South Africa.
Schwartzel made another fast start, opening with three birdies and a chip-in for eagle in his first six holes. In each of the first two rounds he was 4 under through six holes. But a run of three bogeys in four holes and charges from others cut into a six-shot lead.
"It was a bit of an up and down day," said Schwartzel, who won this tournament in 2004 and finished second in 2005. "I started even better than the other days. But then I had those bogeys in the middle. I didn't hit bad shots for those bogeys; they just all came up short."
