Nocera heads stellar field for the Catalonia Ladies Masters

Gwladys Nocera and Stephanie Arricau, the European numbers one and two respectively, are joined by an all star cast for this week's €190,000 Catalonia Ladies Masters at Golf Club D'Aro, near Girona on the Costa Brava in Spain.

The top 30 from the current New Star Money List along with ten invited players will tee it up starting on Friday for a 54-hole Strokeplay event in "Les Gavarres" mountains, 300m above sea level.

The top billed Nocera and Arricau are joined by 2006 tournament winners Italy's Veronica Zorzi, Finland's Riikka Hakkarainen, England's Rebecca Hudson and current Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year Tania Elosegui.

To complement the strong field, the organisers have invited Swedes Charlotta Sorenstam and Maria Hjorth, the two-time Ladies English Open Champion; the 2005 European no.1 Iben Tinning from Denmark; the Thailand Ladies Open Champion Shani Waugh; Spaniards Carmen Alonso and Marina Arruti; Brazilian Candy Hanneman; Chile's Nicole Perrot; Stephanie Louden from the USA, and the ever glamorous Anna Rawson.

Former European no.1 Paula Marti of Spain is supporting the event from behind the ropes after giving birth to her first son, Izan, 19 days ago and she is in rude health, aiming to begin training next week.
