Darren Clarke commits to Australian PGA

Ryder Cup player Darren Clarke has been added to the field for the Australian PGA Championship in Queensland in December, organisers said on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old from Northern Ireland, who contributed three points to Europe's victory over the U.S in Dublin last month, joins U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, titleholder Robert Allenby and world number four Adam Scott in the line-up, the PGA of Australia said.

Clarke, who finished tied for 24th in his last tilt at the Australian PGA in 1996, lost his wife Heather to cancer in August.

The Australian PGA Championship is at the Hyatt Regency Coolum course on Queensland's Sunshine Coast from Dec. 7-10.
