Singh breaks into World Top 50
Jeev Milkha Singh won for a second successive week on the Japan
Golf Tour at the season ending Golf Nippon Series JT Cup. A level
par final round of 70 gave Singh the title by a stroke and the Indian
player moves up a further 8 places in the Official World Golf Ranking
to 47th.
World Number Two Jim Furyk won the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun
City on the Southern Africa's Sunshine Tour. His victory was by
two strokes over Sweden's Henrik Stenson. Furyk has opened up a
gap of 1.69 average points over World Number 3 Phil Mickelson.
Australian Nathan Green shot a stunning closing round of 65 to
win the Blue Chip New Zealand Open by two shots and claim his first
European Tour title at the Gulf Harbour ountry Club. Green climbs
27 places to World Number 83.
Argentina's Rafael Echenique capped a magnificent 2006 by securing
victory at the 101° Campeonato Abierto Visa de la Republica
presented by Jeep, an event co-sanctioned by the European Challenge
Tour and the Tour de las Americas. He climbs to World Number 169,
a jump of 60 places.
