John Daly wins Exelon Invitational

John Daly claimed six skins worth $130,000 to win the three-man Exelon Invitational on Monday after host Jim Furyk withdrew because of a back injury.

Furyk withdrew hours before the start of the event, citing a strained back and spasms. The 2003 U.S. Open champ walked The Ace Club with Daly, Sean O'Hair and Adam Scott and said he planned to get treatment in the next few days.

Furyk, an 11-time PGA Tour winner, said he still hoped to play at the Barclays Classic in Harrison, N.Y., this weekend, one week before the U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.

"I know the host isn't playing today, so I know it's the focus," Furyk said. "It's a disappointment to not play, but I'm just going to try to figure out how to get healthy."

Furyk was coming off a tie for 18th at the Memorial after a closing round of 70 on Sunday.

Daly rolled in a birdie putt on the par-4 15th hole to win five skins worth $105,000 and went on to win the par-3 16th with another birdie.

The charity event, in its eighth year, raised $200,000 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia.

Sean O'Hair, the PGA Tour's rookie of the year in 2005 who lives in nearby West Chester, Pa., finished with five skins and $87,500, while Scott, a three-time PGA Tour winner, had seven skins worth $82,500.
