Justin Rose claimed his first win in four years with victory in
the MasterCard Masters at Huntingdale Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia.
A battling final round 73, in which he had to hold off a challenge
from a throng of Australians, gave Rose a 12 under-par total of
276 and a two stroke margin of victory, and moves him up to 51st
on the Official World Golf Ranking, an improvement of 18 positions.
Jeev Milkha Singh continued his remarkable run of form with a two-stroke
win at the Casio World Open on the Japan Golf Tour, giving him his
second win in a month and his third of 2006. The Indian player moves
up 8 places in the Official World Golf Ranking to 55th.
Singh's rise up the ranking has been meteoric, as he began 2006
as world number 376.
Both players will now be seeking further improvement to try and
break into the top 50, which brings an automatic invitation to the
US Masters at Augusta in April.
