Liselotte Neumann given Life Membership of Ladies European Tour

The Ladies European Tour (LET) is delighted to announce that Sweden 's Liselotte Neumann has earned Life Membership of the LET.

Life Membership is achieved as a result of outstanding golfing achievements. To be eligible, a player must have been an active member of the LET for a minimum of ten years and must have achieved at least 20 points.

Three points are awarded to the winner of the LET exemption ranking and three points are also awarded to winners of major championships. One point is awarded to winners of all LET ranking tournaments not on the major list as well as each member of a winning Women's World Cup of Golf team.

Neumann qualified following her team victory for Sweden with Annika Sörenstam at this year's Women's World Cup of Golf in South Africa .

In her 21-years as a member of the LET, Neumann accumulated six points for winning two major championships: the US Open in 1988 and the Weetabix Women's British Open in 1994; three points for winning the order of merit in 1994; with 11 further points for her ten LET tournament victories and the 2006 Women's World Cup of Golf title.

“I'm thrilled and thank everyone for the wonderful news!” said Neumann, who joins Helen Alfredsson, Laura Davies, Marie-Laure de Lorenzi, Alison Nicholas, Dale Reid and Annika Sorenstam in the LET's most elite group of members. “Its fun when hard work pays off; but this was really icing on the cake!”

Neumann joined the LET in 1985.  Since then, she has earned 27 worldwide victories with her most recent at the 2004 Asahi Ryokuken International on the US LPGA Tour.

One of the highlights of Neumann's career was winning the US Open in her rookie year on the LPGA Tour in 1988 and she recalls: “That Sunday will always stand out as one of my greatest wins – especially since I was only 22 years old and oblivious to all the pressure. I never thought it would mean as much as it did.”

Other notable accomplishments include winning the British Open in 1994, the Tournament of Champions at Grand Cypress in 1996 and representing Europe six times in The Solheim Cup.
