Nick Faldo signs for the Golf Channel
Nick Faldo is sticking with television even as ABC Sports gets out of its contract with the PGA Tour.
The Golf Channel announced Tuesday it has hired the six-time major winner to be its main analyst for PGA Tour coverage starting next year, when the cable outlet begins a 15-year deal primarily broadcasting Thursday and Friday rounds.
"Adding someone of Nick's caliber to our team will be a great asset to our network," CEO David Manougian said. "And because of his versatility and various interests, we can explore ideas for him other than solely golf telecasts."
The Golf Channel will televise all four days of the first three events of the 2007 season, starting with the Mercedes Championships, the opposite-field events and the events tacked onto the schedule after the FedEx Cup is over.
