Paul Casey wins World Match Play and climbs to Number 17
Paul Casey of England claimed the HSBC World Match Play Championship at sun-drenched
Wentworth Club when he produced the biggest victory in 43 finals,
defeating Shaun Micheel of the United States by a margin of 10&8
over the West Course. Casey's win takes him to World Number 17,
a rise of 10 places. Micheel jumps 21 positions to 56th in the Official
World Golf Ranking.
Ben Curtis won the 84 Lumber Classic on the PGA Tour by two strokes
from Charles Howell III after a final round of 2-under-par 70. With
his second win of the season Curtis climbs to World Number 61, an
improvement of 50 places.
Ian Poulter completed his seventh European Tour win at the XXXII
Banco de Madrid Valle Romano Open de Madrid Golf Masters at La Moraleja
II and moves back into the World Top 50 in 45th position.
This week's other winners were Tomohiro Kondo at the ANA Open on
the Japan Golf Tour, Kevin Stadler at the Albertsons Boise Open
on the Nationwide Tour and Martin Kaymer at the Open de Volcans
- Challenge de France on the European Challenge Tour.
