Ty Votaw joins the PGA Tour

Four months after Ty Votaw left as commissioner of the LPGA Tour, he joined the PGA Tour on Monday in a new position as executive vice president of international affairs.

Votaw's move to the PGA Tour had been in the works for the last several months.

"Ty brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the tour and is widely regarded as a true leader in the golf industry," PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said. "He did a great job of leading the LPGA to record purses, unprecedented television coverage and elevating the LPGA's profile."

Finchem indicated Votaw would be in charge of strengthening the tour's profile in the global sports marketplace.

In his seven years as LPGA commissioner, Votaw turned it into a truly world tour, with star players from Sweden, Australia, Korea and Mexico. The LPGA has sanctioned tournaments in eight countries.
