Hennessy pull
out of European Women's tour
London
- The European Women's Tour, who have lost main sponsors
American Express, have suffered another setback with the withdrawal
of the prestigious Hennessy Cup tournament.
The Hennessy,
regarded by the top players as a major event on their Tour, has
run for 13 years, but the Hennessy Company have decided to review
their marketing strategy and redirect funds towards new horizons.
"We have
a long association with golf, but feel that at present the return
on our costs are not justified," said a company spokesman.
Four former
US Open champions have won the Hennessy Cup, including Laura Davies,
who triumphed in Cologne, Germany, this year.
