Berkshire, 28 May - The world-renowned Sunningdale Golf Club
has been chosen as the venue for The Solheim Cup in 2000.

Coates, chief executive of the Women's Professional Golfers'
European Tour said " This is a very exciting decision for a
very special year and promises to produce the greatest women's golf
event ever to be played on this side of the Atlantic. Without doubt
Sunningdale, which will be celebrating its own centennial year in
2000, is a fantastic venue which will provide the perfect showcase
for the best women professional golfers from both sides of the Atlantic
to compete for the most coveted team prize in women's professional
golf.
The WPG European
Tour will work in conjunction with the International Management
Group to stage the event.
The Solheim
Cup sponsored by the Karsten Manufacturing Corp and named after
the company's founder Karsten Solheim is the biennial transatlantic
team match play competition between the WPGET and the LPGA.
The US currently
lead the Europeans by three wins to one after its victory last year
at St Pierre.
The fifth Solheim
Cup will be staged at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin, Ohio
from 18th - 20th September 1998.
