Jason Gore
and Buddy Marucci have been selected as the final two members of
the team to represent the US in the Walker Cup that takes place
at Quaker Ridge Golf Club, Scarsdale N.Y. on 9th - 10th August.
Gore and Murruci
now join the eight other members of the team that have already been
chosen by the USGA on the basis of their
amateur record over the past two years.
Gore (23) is
from Valancia, Calif and has won both the California Amateur and
the California Open in 1997 making him the first player since 1942
to win both events.
Marruci (45)
of Malvern, Pa was the 1995 US Amateur runner-up to Tiger Woods
and he reached the quarter finals of the 1996 Amateur. He was also
a member of the 1995 US Walker Cup team.
In addition
Charles Warren (22) of Columbia, S.C., Tom McKnight (42) of Galax,
Va., and John 'Spider' Miller (47) of Bloomington. Ind., were selected
as first, second and third alternates, respectively.
The complete
10-man team to represent Great Britain and
Ireland was announced last week by the Royal & Ancient in
St Andews.
