Loch
Lomond, Scotland - A bonus of $1 million will be awarded
to the golfer who wins both the Loch Lomond World Invitational and
the British Open Championship this summer.
Standard Life,
which is underwriting the Loch Lomond tournament July 8-11, will
pay the bonus if the same player also wins the Open Championship
July 16-19 at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England.
First prize
at Loch Lomond is $232,000 and the winner of the British Open will
earn $492,000. With the bonus, that would bring total winnings for
the two events to approximately $1.7 million.
Tom Lehman
won at Loch Lomond last year and was the defending Open champion,
but he finished tied for 24th in his defense last summer at Royal
Troon.
