Spanish team pulls out of Chile team event

Madrid -  Spain have withdrawn from the Women's World Amateur Team Golf Championship in Chile this week.

The Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG) cited "political and diplomatic reasons" for the decision.

A Spanish judge has asked Britain to extradite former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet to stand trial for genocide.

An RFEG spokesman said on Wednesday: "The situation at the moment isn't stable, above all for Spaniards...we wanted to prevent any negative response on the part of the Chileans."
