Montgomerie gets his Manor wish

Hanbury Manor, Hertfordshire - Colin Montgomerie will have his wish when he plays the National Car Rental English Open at Hanbury Manor on 4th - 7th June.

Thick rough down the sides of the fairways and around the green will give Montgomerie the preparation he seeks in his final European Tour event before his assault on the US Open in San Francisco two weeks later.

"The English Open has been a good tournament for me and it would be nice to go to the US Open as champion," said the five-times European number one.

"I won in 1994, lost a play-off the next year and finished tied second in 1996."
They were all at the Forest of Arden. When the event switched to Hanbury Manor, near Ware in Hertfordshire, last year Montgomerie finished joint 12th, eight strokes behind Ryder Cup team-mate Per-Ulrik Johansson.

The Swede defends a title again worth 108,330 out of a total fund of 650,000.
