Faldo to be inducted into World Golf Hall of Fame

As the World Golf Village prepares to open to the public on 19th May, final plans are being made for the World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony to be held on 18th May when new inductees and legends of the game converge for a once-in-a-lifetime tribute to golf's greatest players.

Nick Faldo, who was elected in the 1997 International Ballot will be inducted at the ceremony. Seve Ballesteros, who was also elected in the 1997 ballot will be inducted in March 1999.

Faldo, born 18th July 1957 in Welwyn Garden City, England turned professional in 1976 and he has won six major championships - three Opens (1987, 90, 92) and three Masters (1989, 90, 96) - and has played on 11 European Ryder Cup teams.

"This is the greatest accolade a golfer can receive for his achievements and obviously, I am extremely excited and honoured to be included in the World Golf Hall of Fame," said Faldo.

Due to previous commitments on his calender before the May induction dates were announced, Ballesteros requested that his induction be deferred until 1999.
