Another Faldo
split, this time with girlfriend
Associated Press
London - First it was David Leadbetter. Now
it's Brenna Cepelak. Nick Faldo has been busy with breakups the
past two weeks.
The three-time
Masters and Open champion disclosed today that he and Cepelak have
agreed to end their three-year relationship.
"It is
always sad, but these things happen,'' Faldo said in a statement
from the Belgacom Open in Belgium, where he opened with a 6-under
65 and was one stroke off the lead.
The split comes
11 days after Faldo abruptly ended his 13-year relationship with Leadbetter, which was much more
bitter. Leadbetter accused Faldo earlier today of copying his teaching
methods at the Faldo Golf Institute.
Cepelak was
on a golf scholarship at Arizona when she met Faldo in 1995 at a
tournament. Faldo was separated from his second wife, Gill, at the
time. Their divorce is expected to become final this month.
"There
are always regrets and heartaches when two people end the kind of
relationship which Nick and I have experienced,'' Cepelak, 23, said.
