2000 Curtis Cup venue switched to Ganton

London - Britain and Ireland's next staging of the Curtis Cup women's amateur match against the United States in 2000 has been switched from Royal Porthcawl to Ganton in Yorkshire.

The decision follows consultations between the Ladies' Golf Union, the Royal and Ancient Club and the R&A's consultant agronomist over the condition of the Welsh course, which hosted the men's Walker Cup three years ago.

Britain and Ireland have lost only one of the last six matches and defend the trophy at Minikahda in Minnesota on August 1-2.
