Germany takes over Czech Open date

Algarve, Portugal - Continental Europe's second oldest golf event, the German Open, will, after all, go ahead on this year's European Tour schedule, replacing the Czech Open from 6th - 9th August. The announcement was made today during the first round of the Portuguese Open.

No place had previously been found for the German Open on this year's European Tour but the Czech Open has been cancelled after the main sponsors asked to be released from their contract.

The venue for the 64th German Open, which will have a prize fund of 700,000 ($1.2 million), has yet to be decided.
