Horton goes
for four in a row
Coventry
- Europe's leading senior golfer, Jersey Islander Tommy
Horton, is going for four wins in a row in the Scottish Life/Ben
Sayers Senior Club Professional Championship which begins tomorrow
at Coventry Golf Club.
The 54-hole
tournament is aimed at British club professionals over the age of
50. The cut comes after 36 holes, and the leading
40 and those tying for 40th place will contest the final 18 holes
on Thursday.
Horton, 56,
who amassed £158,427 on the European Seniors Tour last year nearly
twice as much as the runner-up claimed the scoring would be higher
than in 1997, when he carded a 16-under-par 203 to win by nine strokes.
"The greens
haven't grown as much as last year, and there's new sand in the
bunkers which means a lot more plugged balls," he
said.
