Woods has been installed as the 5/1 clear favourite for the
opening major of the season - the US Masters which starts in
April.
World No.1 Woods,
whose wins in 1998 included the the Johnnie Walker Classic
in Thailand and the BellSouth Classic TPC, also heads the
list with Ladbrokes for the other three majors. He is 8-1
for the Open, 9-1 for the U.S Open and 9-1 for the USPGA Championship.
Mark O'Meara, 41,
won his first major after 19 years as a professional when
claiming the Masters title at Augusta and then went on to
win the British Open three months later, is priced 25/1 to
repeat last years win at Augusta.
The US PGA tour's
leading money winner David Duval finds himself second in the
betting at 14/1, while Britain's Lee Westwood and South African
Ernie Erls are next in the list at 16/1.
Duval, 27, won four
more events on the U.S Tour to go with the three he took at
the tail end of 1997 as he headed the money list with record
earnings of almost $2.6 million.
Westwood, 25, chalked
up four victories to go with three more on the international
stage, in New Orleans in April and twice in Japan in November,
but he lost out in the European Tour's Order of Merit to Colin
Montgomerie - his sixth in succession.
