Queensland's Grant Dodd hit a
course record six-under-par 67 to take the lead on the opening
day of the Players Championship at the Royal Queensland Golf
Club on Thursday.
Dodd held a one-shot lead over fellow Australians Brett
Rumford, a 22-year-old amateur, and Grant Kenny, with Lucas
Parsons, Paul Gow and Scott Laycock one shot further back on
four under.
A host of players, including Craig Parry, Scotland's Raymond
Russell and defending champion Stephen Leaney were locked on 70.
Australian Open champion, amateur Aaron Baddeley, struggled
to a one-over-par 74 after being four over the card at one stage
during his round.
