Lucas Parsons stumbled late in
his round but still notched a six-under-par 67 for a one-shot
lead on the second day of the Players Championship at the Royal
Queensland Golf Club on Friday.
Parsons, who carded an opening round of 69, was on 136 and
just ahead of fellow Australian Greg Chalmers who hit a
course-record 65 to be on 137.
Parsons had led by five strokes at one stage after a
brilliant mid-round run that included eight birdies in 10 holes,
but a double bogey on the 17th plus an eagle by left-hander
Chalmers on the same hole saw that quickly cut back.
Jarrod Moseley grafted out a second round of 69 to be three
off the pace and in a three-way tie for third with with Craig
Parry (69) and Scott Laycock (70).
Overnight leader Grant Dodd of Queensland was a further shot
back after a 73.
Australian Open champion, amateur Aaron Baddeley followed
his opening-round 74 with a 71 to be nine shots off the pace.
