Greg Turner fired
a second successive round of four-under-par 68 to open up a one-stroke
lead at the halfway mark of the Australian PGA championship on Friday.
The experienced New
Zealand golfer held his game together in tricky conditions to finish the
day at eight under par, one clear of Australian George Serhan and his compatriot
Nick O'Hern, who produced the round of the day with a 66.
Geoff Ogilvy and
Tony Mills were a further shot back at six under.
"The course is tricky,
the greens are getting very firm and very fast, you've got to tread very
warily because they can jump up and bite you any time," said Turner, who
played for the Internations in last year's historic Presidents Cup win
over the star-studded U.S. in Melbourne.
"I was aware of that
all day and tried to make sure I didn't make any silly mistakes and I didn't,"
he said.
