Record breaker Casera dies
Italian Aldo Casera, who
last year set a European tour record unlikely ever to be equalled, has died.
Casera, winner of the Italian
Open in 1948, made his 50th appearance in the European Masters in Switzerland
last September at the age of 79.
He was attending this week's
Italian Open in Turin, but fell ill and died in hospital.
Two years ago Casera equalled
his age at the European Masters with an opening 78, then beat it by five the
following day.
