named for Pebble Beach Pro-Am
MONTEREY, Calif.
-- Samuel L. Jackson, nominated for an Academy Award for his role
in the 1994 hit film Pulp Fiction, will play in the AT&T
Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the first time.
Jackson, a 12
handicap, is also known for his powerful portrayal of a vengeful
father in John Grisham's A Time to Kill.
He will join
a host of regulars, including: Jack Lemmon, Glen Campbell, Jimmy
Connors, William Devane, Glen Frey, Mark Grace, Bryant Gumbel, Orel
Hershiser, Craig T. Nelson, Chris O'Donnell and Tommy Smothers.
Two other first-timers
join the list: Grammy-award winning singer Michael Bolton and retired
baseball star Robin Yount
The professionals
will vie for a record $2.8 million purse, $540,000 for first place.
