New Zealand golfer
Paul Devenport notched the ninth hole-in-one of his career on the way to
a share of the lead after the second round of the Coolum Classic on Friday.
Devenport, who had
narrowly missed the cut in his past four tournaments, carded a three-under-par
69 to be level with Australians Craig Parry (68) and Nick O'Hern (66) at
seven-under.
They led by one shot
from a group of five, including overnight Australian joint leader John
Senden, who had a 71.
Devenport's hole-in-one
came on the par-three 13th hole. He later admitted to "slightly pulling"
his three iron into the wind.
"I pulled it slightly
but it landed on the green. I yelled out 'go in', not really expecting
it to," said the New Zealander.
Englishman Jason
Proctor matched Devenport's feat with a hole-in-one at the sixth in his
round of 72, but was 11 shots off the lead.
