holds onto 65th place from hotel room
With Jumbo Ozaki
unlikely to play, 65th place in this week's Official
World Golf Ranking is
probably going to be the cutoff for playing in the Andersen Consulting World
Match Play Championship in two weeks.
Nick Faldo held that
spot last week despite missing the cut in Dubai.
His nearest challengers
just failed to overtake him. First Greg Turner in the Ericsson Masters,
then Per-Ulrik Johansson in the Dubai Desert Classic and finally David Toms
in the Buick Invitational all came within one or two shots of overtaking Faldo.
If Ozaki is the only withdrawl,
the match of No. 1 vs. No. 65 will feature Tiger Woods vs. Faldo.
Woods won the Buick Invitational
on the PGA Tour with an eagle putt on the final hole to move 1.2 points clear
of David Duval at the top of the World Ranking.
David Howell won the
Dubai Desert Classic for his first victory on the European Tour moving up 68
places in the latest World Ranking to 101st position.
Craig Spence held off Greg Norman
to win the Ericsson Masters on the PGA Tour of Australasia to move into the World
Ranking Top-200 for the first time in 189th position.
Desvonde Botes won the
South African Masters on the Southern Africa PGA Tour but remains outside the
World Ranking Top-200 in 256th position.

prior to the opening matches is the eldest Ozaki brother, following would be
