Former British Open and U.S. Masters champion Nick Faldo is getting married again.
Faldo, a father of three, has announced he is engaged to his 26-year-old girlfriend Valerie Bercher, a Swiss public relations consultant. He said he proposed during a holiday in Paris last month.
The couple met when the 42-year-old was playing in the 1997 Swiss Masters. She now accompanies him full-time on tour.
"Thanks to Valerie's love and support, I am happier than ever and we are both very excited about our future plans together," said Faldo, who has won the British Open and the U.S. Masters three times each.
Faldo has been married twice before. He married Melanie Rockall in 1979 but that marriage ended after he met his second wife, Gill, at the British Open in 1983.
His second marriage lasted 12 years and produced three children -- Natalie, 12, Matthew, 10, and Georgia, 6.
Faldo left Gill in 1995 and started a relationship with American college golfer Brenna Cepelak, now 24. Their three-year relationship ended last year and Faldo started seeing Bercher soon after.
"This one's going to last," said Faldo, adding that the couple planned to marry in the summer of 2001.
