bosses announced that golf may become an event in the summer games in 2004.
The IOC have announced
14 sports which may become Olympic Sports for the games to be held in Athens.
They range from popular sports, such as golf and rugby, to the more bizarre
games, namely underwater swimming and parachuting.
The inclusion of
many will be boosts to the home nations as Great Britain stand a great
chance of winning medals in a number of the events.
Other sports submitting
a formal request to become an official Olympic sport are: water-skiing,
parachuting, billiards, bocce, dancing, karate, bowling, artistic roller
skating, rugby, water skiing, raquetball, squash and surfing.
The favourite to
become a full sport at the games is water-skiiing.
