Goosen withdraws from SA Open and SA
Players Championship
JOHANNESBURG, Jan 16 - Retief Goosen,
who withdrew from the South African PGA Championship on Thursday because of an
arm injury, has also pulled out of next week's South African Open and the Players
Championship a week later.
Goosen, a member of South Africa's
double-winning Alfred Dunhill Cup team, withdrawn from this week's event after
completing a 73, complaining of the injury he picked up while skiing in Switzerland.
Organisers of the event, the opening
tournament of the European Tour, said he has an impact fracture in his left arm.
"I thought I had pulled a ligament
in my left arm, but even after treatment the injury was getting worse," Goosen
said.
"After an x-ray, the doctor said I
must rest my arm for at least two weeks."
